Sticks and Stones

There is the that old saying "Sticks and Stones will break your bones, but words can never hurt you"

Whoever started that is full of it.

Words can leave scars, burn holes, break your spirit. Words can leave a thumb print on your heart that will hurt for days, weeks and months to come.

Words can not be taken back. They are imprinted and lasting.

Forgiveness is so important.

But what about when forgiveness is so hard to freely give?

We all know that forgetting is not an option, at some point many months/years down the line something creeps up that reminds us of the awful things someone said to us. It still hurts. It stings.

Forgiveness is something that must be done. You can still be angry, don’t get me wrong on that one, but forgive. It will help to heal. It will start the feeling of wholeness once again.

I forgive, even if I can’t forget. I may still be angry, but I forgive. I don’t agree, and probably never will, but I forgive.

Just don’t ask to much to soon.

Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will make me stronger.
